Comcept, developer of Mighty No. 9, hit Kickstarter backers with two major announcements today. The first, Comcept and Dead Island publisher Deep Silver are teaming up to release Mighty No. 9 on September 15th, 2015 in the states and September 18th for the rest of the world. The game will ship retail and digital on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC simultaneously.
The second bit of news informed Kickstarter backers that they would be receiving the games “Ray DLC” for free as a reward for their “support and patience.” That seems like a pretty sweet deal as the DLC includes a new playable character, stage, and boss fight.
Teaming up with Deep Silver might not seem to make a lot of sense for a nearly finished Kickstarter game that received more than the originally requested amount of funding but the partnership could prove advantageous for fans around the world. For starters, Comcept has made it clear that Deep Silver is helping to bring the game to retail shelves around the globe as well as providing support for localized VO in Japanese and French as well as subtitles in a number of languages including Russian, German, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese.
Mighty No. 9 is considered by many to be a spiritual successor of the Mega Man and Mega Man X games. Comcept’s founder and project lead is the very same Keiji Inafune who made the classic Mega Man games we all love so much and it shows.
